Our new lodge is located at the best breathtaking location in Bukit Lawang, just 120 meters away from our current guesthouse (even not 2 min by foot). Nestled on the Bohorok river bank opposite to the stunning Gunung Leuser rainforest, Sumatra Orangutan Explore Guesthouse is a relaxing and inspirational place. Its riverside location offers the perfect spot to relax before and after the trek with breathtaking views over the lush jungle just ahead —yet remains conveniently close to the center of Bukit Lawang and to other accommodations and restaurants (just a short walk away).

As a perfect mix between superior comfort and harmony with nature, our place offers a small selection of rooms according to the wishes of everyone: 4 spacious family rooms (2 at the first floor and 2 at the second floor) and a standard double bedroom ! All our rooms are provided with comfortable king size beds and bunk beds in the family rooms, mosquito nets, A/C, fans on demand, ensuite western style bathrooms with hot water and locally produced organic toiletries and high-speed wifi! The 2 family rooms at the first floor are coming along with balconies overlooking the restaurant and the river and jungle in the background. The 2 family rooms at the second floor are provided with balconies offering a panoramic view over the jungle and the river. The standard double bedroom is not coming with a private balcony but a shared balcony with a bench overlooking the piece of forest behind our lodge. We are committed to make you feel home and to make you enjoy to the fullest your stay in our tropical paradise!

In the event of full occupancy we can accommodate you in one of the double rooms or family rooms of our partners neighbours or our 2 Village double rooms.

Our riverside terrace will offer you breathtaking views over the river, the jungle and the amazing wildlife hiding in it. The perfect place to relax after your day while sipping a fresh juice and enjoying some delicious local dishes from our restaurant. If you're lucky you can even spot orangutans in the big fruit trees right in front of the restaurant or from your balcony (during fruit season). Our cozy restaurant is opened from 08:00 am to 09:00 pm every day.

As part of our eco-conscious approach, our lodge aims to reduce as much as possible the negative impacts relating to tourism. We are providing organic and locally produced toiletries, encouraging guests to wash towels and linen less often and to not throw toilet paper in toilets, sourcing locally grown organic vegetables and cultivating our own organic rice down in the village, partnering with local farmers for foods and hand craftsmen for decoration items and most importantly we are committing to reduce significantly usage of single use plastics at our lodge and during our ethical treks and tours.
